King Ben-hadad of Aram gathered all his army together; thirty-two kings were with him, along with horses and chariots. He marched against Samaria, laid siege to it, and attacked it.

Now the king of Aram had commanded the captains of his chariots, “Fight with no one small or great but only with the king of Israel.”

Both great and small shall die in this land; they shall not be buried, and no one shall lament for them; there shall be no gashing, no shaving of the head for them.

and taken captive the women and all who were in it, both small and great; they killed none of them but carried them off and went their way.
