Joab gave the total count of the people to David. In all Israel there were one million one hundred thousand men who drew the sword, and in Judah four hundred seventy thousand who drew the sword.

their whole number was six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty.

This was the number of the Israelites enrolled: six hundred and one thousand seven hundred thirty.

Of all this force, there were seven hundred picked men who were left-handed; every one could sling a stone at a hair, and not miss.

The Israelites proceeded to go up to Bethel, where they inquired of God, “Which of us shall go up first to battle against the Benjaminites?” And the Lord answered, “Judah shall go up first.”

When he mustered them at Bezek, those from Israel were three hundred thousand, and those from Judah seventy thousand.

So Saul summoned the people, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand foot soldiers, and ten thousand soldiers of Judah.
