James 3:1

Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers and sisters, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.

desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make assertions.


Do not lord it over those in your charge, but be examples to the flock.


And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers; then deeds of power, then gifts of healing, forms of assistance, forms of leadership, various kinds of tongues.


“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you lock people out of the kingdom of heaven. For you do not go in yourselves, and when others are going in, you stop them.

Jesus answered him, “Are you a teacher of Israel, and yet you do not understand these things?


“A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a slave above the master;


“Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven;


When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”


May the Lord cut off from the tents of Jacob anyone who does this—any to witness or answer, or to bring an offering to the Lord of hosts.


Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a member of the court of Herod the ruler, and Saul.


Do not be deceived, my beloved.


You must understand this, my beloved: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger;


From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this ought not to be so.
