Those who say, “I love God,” and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen.


But whoever hates another believer is in the darkness, walks in the darkness, and does not know the way to go, because the darkness has brought on blindness.


They have neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk around in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.


For anyone who lacks these things is nearsighted and blind, and is forgetful of the cleansing of past sins.


Whoever says, “I have come to know him,” but does not obey his commandments, is a liar, and in such a person the truth does not exist;


If we say that we have fellowship with him while we are walking in darkness, we lie and do not do what is true;
