The grass withers, the flower fades: because the spirit of the Lord-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) blows upon it: surely the people [is] grass.

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

I remembered God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered], and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah [stop and diligently consider what was just said].

Then ‘rose up from before the house of God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered], and went into the chamber of Yochanan [Yehovah has graced] the son of Elyashiv [God restores]: and [when] he came there, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away.

And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.

My soul has [them] still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.

He has caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins (literally, kidneys; figuratively, seat of emotion).

My days [are] like a shadow that declines; and I am withered like grass.

For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping,

Reproach (disgrace; shame) has broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked [for some] to take pity, but [there was] none; and for comforters, but I found none.

O my God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered], my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember youi from the land of Yarden [Descender], and of the Hermonim [a sanctuary], from the hill Mizar [small].

So that his life abhors bread, and his soul dainty meat.

My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

For the arrows of the Almighty [are] within me, the poison whereof drink up my spirit: the terrors of God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] do set themselves in array (to put on; to clothe) against me.

And the elders of his house arose, [and went] to him, to raise him up from the earth: but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them.

My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat.
