The rod and reproof (rebuke; scolding) give wisdom: but a child left [to himself] brings his mother to shame.
A foolish son [is] a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
Correct youi son, and he shall give youi rest; yea, he shall give delight unto youi soul.
He that spares his rod hates his son: but he that loves him chastens him early.
