Though youi should pound on a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, [yet] will not his foolishness depart from him.

They have stricken me, [shall youi say, and] I was not sick; they have beaten me, [and] I felt [it] not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

As a dog returns to his vomit, [so] a fool returns to his folly.


Can the Cushi (Ethiopian) (Kushi [their blackness]) change his skin, or the leopard his spots? [then] may you2f also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.


And when it was told Sha’ul [desired], he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. And Sha’ul [desired] sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also.


After this thing Yarov’am [the people will contend] returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became [one] of the priests of the high places.


The crown of the wise [is] their riches: [but] the foolishness of fools [is] folly.
