The beginning of strife [is as] when one lets out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.

Go not forth hastily to strive, lest [youi know not] what to do in the end thereof, when youi neighbour has put youi to shame.


[It is] an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.


And that you2f study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;


A soft answer turns away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

The discretion of a man defers his anger; and [it is] his glory to pass over a transgression.
