I will meet them as a bear [that is] bereaved [of her whelps], and will rend (tear apart; forcefully rip apart) the caul (membrane; fatty tissue around a bodily organ) of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.


For, said Hushai [hasting], youi know youri father and his men, that they [be] mighty men, and they [be] chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and youri father [is] a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

An evil [man] seeks only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.


[If] a wise man contends with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, [there is] no rest.
