A fool despises his father’s instruction: but he that regards reproof (rebuke; scolding) is prudent.


[As] an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, [so is] a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.


Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that youi may be wise in youi latter end.


He that walks with wise [men] shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.


Turn you at my reproof (rebuke; scolding): behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

[It is] better to hear the rebuke (reprimand; strongly warn; restrain) of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.


Poverty and shame [shall be to] him that refuses instruction: but he that regards reproof (rebuke; scolding) shall be honoured.
