And when we passed by from our brethren the children of ‘Esav [Hairy], which dwelt in Se’ir [Shaggy], through the way of the plain from Eilat [Grove of Lofty Trees], and from ‘Etzyon-Gever [Backbone of a Man], we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Mo’av [Seed of my Father].
Y’hoshafat [Yehovah has judged] made ships of Tarshish [yellow jasper] to go to Ofir [reducing to ashes] for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at ‘Etzyon-Gever [backbone of a man].
And king Shlomo (Solomon) [peace] made a navy of ships in ‘Etzyon-Gever [backbone of a man], which [is] beside Elot [grove of lofty trees], on the shore of the Red sea, in the land of Edom [Red].
(Now the ‘Amalekim [Dwellers in a Valley] and the Kena’ani [Merchant] dwelt in the valley.) Tomorrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.
