And the sons of Y’hudah (Let the Powerful One be Praised [Yah]); ‘Er (watchful; watchman), and Onan (strong; pain, force, iniquity), and Shelah (Sent Out, Branch or Javelin; to prosper, rest), and Peretz (a breach (breaking forth; a break; opening, inlet); divided; rupture), and Zerach (a rising as the sun): but ‘Er and Onan died in the land of Kena’an (merchant; trader; or that humbles and subdues). Y’hudah [Praise] begot Peretz [to break through] and Zerach [glowing] from Tamar [date palm]; Peretz [to break through] begot Hetzron [enclosed]; Hetzron [enclosed] begot Ram [exalted].

All the sons of Peretz [breach (breaking forth; a break; opening, inlet)] that dwelt at Yerushalayim [Foundation of Peace] [were] four hundred threescore and eight valiant men.

And at Yerushalayim [Foundation of Peace] dwelt [certain] of the children of Y’hudah [Let Him (God) Be Praised], and of the children of Binyamin [Son of the Right Hand/Strength]. The sons of Shelah [A Petition] the son of Y’hudah [Let Him (God) Be Praised] [were], ‘Er [awake] the father of Lekha [journey], and La’adah [order] the father of Mareshah [Crest of a Hill], and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen, of the Beit-Ashbea [house of I shall make to swear],

And she put her widow’s garments off from her, and covered her with a veil, and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place, which [is] by the way to Timnah [Portion] (place of forbidding); for she saw that Shelah (Sent Out, Branch or Javelin; to prosper, rest) was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife.

Then said Y’hudah to Tamar [palm-tree] his daughter in law, Remain a widow at youri father’s house, till Shelah my son be grown: for he said, Lest perhaps he die also, as his brethren [did]. And Tamar [palm-tree] went and dwelt in her father’s house.

And she yet again conceived, and bore a son; and called his name Shelach (Sent Out, Branch or Javelin; to prosper, rest): and he was at K’ziv (false), when she bore him.

Of the tribe of Y’hudah [praised] [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Re’uven [Behold a Son] [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad [Good Fortune with Troublesome Effort] [were] sealed twelve thousand.

Y’hudah (Let the Powerful One be Praised [Yah]), youi [are he] whom you(i) brethren shall praise: your(i) hand [shall be] in the neck of youri enemies; your(i) father’s children shall bow down before youi.

And the sons of Partzi [Breach (breaking forth; a break; opening, inlet)] were; of Hetzron [surrounded by a wall], the family of the Hetzroni: of Hamul [Spared], the family of the Hamuli.

‘Utai [helpful] the son of Ammihud [People of Magesty], the son of ‘Omri [pupil of Yehovah], the son of Imri [eloquent], the son of Bani [built], of the children of Partzi [Breach (breaking forth; a break; opening, inlet)] the son of Y’hudah [Let Him (God) Be Praised].

And of the Shiloni [place of rest]; ‘Asayah [made by Yehovah] the firstborn, and his sons.
