And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.
These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time comes, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall show you plainly of the Father.
And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God-Theos: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
And he began to speak unto them by parables. A [certain] man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about [it], and excavated [a place for] the winepress, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.
Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increases [that which is] not his! how long? and to him that weighs himself down with thick clay!
In that day shall [one] take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful (mournful cry; sorrowful howl) lamentation, [and] say, We be utterly spoiled: he has changed the portion of my people: how has he removed [it] from me! turning away he has divided our fields.
