But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that Yochanan [Yehovah has graced] was a prophet.

Then behold Herod [heroic] wished to kill him, but he feared the people who believed that Yochanan [Yah is gracious] was a prophet among them.

But the P’rushim (Pharisees) [separatists] and lawyers rejected the counsel of God-Theos against themselves, being not baptized of him.

And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed you2f him not?

And they answered, that they could not tell from what place [it was].
