Yet it came to pass, when the people of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God] were waxen strong, that they put the Kena’ani [Merchant] to tribute; but did not utterly drive them out.

Neither did Naftali [My Wrestling] drive out the inhabitants of Beit-Shemesh [House of the Sun], nor the inhabitants of Beit-’Anat [House of Response (or Affliction)]; but he dwelt among the Kena’ani [Merchant], the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Beit-Shemesh [House of the Sun] and of Beit-’Anat [House of Response (or Affliction)] became tributaries unto them.

Neither did Z’vulun [Glorious Dwelling Place] drive out the inhabitants of Kitron [Incense], nor the inhabitants of Nahalol [Pasture]; but the Kena’ani [Merchant] dwelt among them, and became tributaries.

And it came to pass, when Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God] was strong, that they put the Kena’ani [Merchant] to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out.

And he saw that rest [was] good, and the land that [it was] pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.

Their children that were left after them in the land, whom the people of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God] also were not able utterly to destroy, upon those did Shlomo (Solomon) [peace] levy a tribute of bond service unto this day.
