And the children of ‘Amon [Inbred] came out, and put the battle in array (to put on; to clothe) at the entering in of the gate: and the Aram [Syrians] of Tzovah [station], and of Rechov [Broad Place], and Ish-Tov [man of goodness], and Ma’akhah [oppression] [oppression], [were] by themselves in the field.

Then Yiftach [He Opens] fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tov [Good]: and there were gathered vain men to Yiftach [He Opens], and went out with him.

And it was so, that when the children of ‘Amon [Inbred] made war against Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God], the elders of Gil’ad [Rocky Region] went to fetch Yiftach [He Opens] out of the land of Tov [Good]:

And when David [beloved] heard of [it], he sent Yo’av [Yehovah is father], and all the host of the mighty men.

When Yo’av [Yehovah is father] saw that the front of the battle was against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice [men] of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God], and put [them] in array (to put on; to clothe) against the Aram [Syrians]:

Elifelet [God is deliverance] the son of Achasbai [brother of my encompassers], the son of the Ma’akhati [pressure (literally, she has pressed)], Eli’am [God of the people, or God is kinsman] the son of Achitofel [my brother i foolish] the Giloni [gentilic of preceding],

And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David [beloved] killed them [of Tzovah [station]]: and they went to Dammesek (Damascus) [silent is the sackcloth weaver], and dwelt in it, and reigned in Dammesek (Damascus) [silent is the sackcloth weaver].

And the children of ‘Amon [Inbred] came out, and put the battle in array (to put on; to clothe) before the gate of the city: and the kings that were come [were] by themselves in the field.

Then they came to G’dalyahu [Yehovah is great] to Mitzpah [watchtower], even Yishma’el [God will hear] the son of N’tanyah [given of Yehovah], and Yochanan [Yehovah has graced] and Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] the sons of Kareach [bald], and S’rayah [Yehovah is ruler] the son of Tanchumet [consolation], and the sons of ‘Efai [gloomy] the N’tofati [dropping], and Y’zanyahu [Yehovah has listened] the son of a Ma’akhati [pressure (literally, she has pressed)], they and their men.
