When the men of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God] saw that they were in a strait, (for the people were distressed,) then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.

And the hand of Midyan [Strife] prevailed against Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God]: [and] because of the Midyanim [Strife] the people of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God] made them the dens which [are] in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds.

(Of whom the world was not worthy) they wandered in deserts, and [in] mountains, and [in] dens and caves of the earth.

For I am in a strait between two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Moshiach [Messiah]; which is far better:

But this [is] a people robbed and spoiled; [they are] all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivers; for a spoil (plunder; prey; booty), and none says, Restore.

And David [beloved] said unto Gad [Good Fortune with Troublesome Effort], I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the Lord-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate); for his mercies [are] great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.

And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where [was] a cave; and Sha’ul [desired] went in to cover his feet: and David [beloved] and his men remained in the sides of the cave.

Then came up the Zifim [smelters] to Sha’ul [desired] to Giv’ah [Hill], saying, Does not David [beloved] hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hikhilah [dark], which [is] on the south of Y’shim’on [Wasteland]?

And both of them discovered themselves unto the Garrison (fortification; military post) of the P’lishtim [Immigrants]: and the P’lishtim [Immigrants] said, Behold, the ‘Evri’ot [Hebrew] come forth out of the holes where they had hid themselves.

And when the men of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God] turned again, the men of Binyamin [Son of the Right Hand/Strength] were amazed: for they saw that evil was come upon them.

Moreover the children of ‘Amon [Inbred] passed over Yarden [Descender] to fight also against Y’hudah [Let Him (God) Be Praised], and against Binyamin [Son of the Right Hand/Strength], and against the house of Efrayim [Doubly Fruitful]; so that Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God] was sore distressed.

And when the men of ‘Ai [Heap of Ruins] looked behind them, they saw, and, behold, the smoke of the city ascended up to heaven, and they had no power to flee this way or that way: and the people that fled to the wilderness turned back upon the pursuers.

And when the P’lishtim [Immigrants] heard that the people of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God] were gathered together to Mitzpah [Watchtower], the lords of the P’lishtim [Immigrants] went up against Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God]. And when the people of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God] heard [it], they were afraid of the P’lishtim [Immigrants].

And Sh’mu’el [His name is El] arose, and got him up from Gilgal [A Wheel, Rolling] unto Giv’ah [Hill] of Binyamin [Son of the Right Hand/Strength]. And Sha’ul [desired] numbered the people [that were] present with him, about six hundred men.

Likewise all the men of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God] which had hid themselves in mount Efrayim [Doubly Fruitful], [when] they heard that the P’lishtim [Immigrants] fled, even they also followed hard after them in the battle.

Now the pit wherein Yishma’el [God will hear] had cast all the dead bodies of the men, whom he had slain because of G’dalyahu [Yehovah is great], [was] it which Asa [healer; injurious?] the king had made for fear of Ba’sha [wicked] king of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God]: [and] Yishma’el [God will hear] the son of N’tanyah [given of Yehovah] filled it with [them that were] slain.

Say youi thus unto them, Thus says the Lord-Adonai [Greatest Above All Things] GOD-Yehōvih (THE FATHER); [As] I live, surely they that [are] in the wastes shall fall by the sword, and him that [is] in the open field will I give to the beasts to be devoured, and they that [be] in the forts and in the caves shall die of the pestilence.

And when the men of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God] that [were] on the other side of the valley, and [they] that [were] on the other side Yarden [Descender], saw that the men of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God] fled, and that Sha’ul [desired] and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the P’lishtim [Immigrants] came and dwelt in them.
