Zechariah 8:12

New Living Translation

For I am planting seeds of peace and prosperity among you. The grapevines will be heavy with fruit. The earth will produce its crops, and the heavens will release the dew. Once more I will cause the remnant in Judah and Israel to inherit these blessings.

When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the Lord blessed him.

“From the dew of heaven and the richness of the earth, may God always give you abundant harvests of grain and bountiful new wine.

Now Elijah, who was from Tishbe in Gilead, told King Ahab, “As surely as the Lord, the God of Israel, lives—the God I serve—there will be no dew or rain during the next few years until I give the word!”

May the mountains yield prosperity for all, and may the hills be fruitful.

Yes, the Lord pours down his blessings. Our land will yield its bountiful harvest.

The king’s anger is like a lion’s roar, but his favor is like dew on the grass.

Then the Lord will bless you with rain at planting time. There will be wonderful harvests and plenty of pastureland for your livestock.

Instead of shame and dishonor, you will enjoy a double share of honor. You will possess a double portion of prosperity in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.

They will come home and sing songs of joy on the heights of Jerusalem. They will be radiant because of the Lord’s good gifts— the abundant crops of grain, new wine, and olive oil, and the healthy flocks and herds. Their life will be like a watered garden, and all their sorrows will be gone.

They will no longer be prey for other nations, and wild animals will no longer devour them. They will live in safety, and no one will frighten them.

I will cause my people to walk on you once again, and you will be their territory. You will never again rob them of their children.

I will give you great harvests from your fruit trees and fields, and never again will the surrounding nations be able to scoff at your land for its famines.

See, I care about you, and I will pay attention to you. Your ground will be plowed and your crops planted.

Therefore, they will disappear like the morning mist, like dew in the morning sun, like chaff blown by the wind, like smoke from a chimney.

I will be to Israel like a refreshing dew from heaven. Israel will blossom like the lily; it will send roots deep into the soil like the cedars in Lebanon.

The Lord will reply, “Look! I am sending you grain and new wine and olive oil, enough to satisfy your needs. You will no longer be an object of mockery among the surrounding nations.

Don’t be afraid, you animals of the field, for the wilderness pastures will soon be green. The trees will again be filled with fruit; fig trees and grapevines will be loaded down once more.

“If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands,

The remnant of Israel will do no wrong; they will never tell lies or deceive one another. They will eat and sleep in safety, and no one will make them afraid.”

It’s because of you that the heavens withhold the dew and the earth produces no crops.

“Think about this eighteenth day of December, the day when the foundation of the Lord’s Temple was laid. Think carefully.

I am giving you a promise now while the seed is still in the barn. You have not yet harvested your grain, and your grapevines, fig trees, pomegranates, and olive trees have not yet produced their crops. But from this day onward I will bless you.”

“This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: All this may seem impossible to you now, a small remnant of God’s people. But is it impossible for me? says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease. Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

So don’t boast about following a particular human leader. For everything belongs to you—

Let my teaching fall on you like rain; let my speech settle like dew. Let my words fall like rain on tender grass, like gentle showers on young plants.

Moses said this about the tribes of Joseph: “May their land be blessed by the Lord with the precious gift of dew from the heavens and water from beneath the earth;

So Israel will live in safety, prosperous Jacob in security, in a land of grain and new wine, while the heavens drop down dew.

And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.
