Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.

Then Absalom sent for Joab to ask him to intercede for him, but Joab refused to come. Absalom sent for him a second time, but again Joab refused to come.

“What are people, that you should make so much of us, that you should think of us so often?

Praise the Lord, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands.

He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.

O Lord, what are human beings that you should notice them, mere mortals that you should think about them?

Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice.

Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come.

We also know that the Son did not come to help angels; he came to help the descendants of Abraham.

Yet for a little while you made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.

What we do see is Jesus, who for a little while was given a position “a little lower than the angels”; and because he suffered death for us, he is now “crowned with glory and honor.” Yes, by God’s grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone.
