Like lions they open their jaws against me, roaring and tearing into their prey.
People jeer and laugh at me. They slap my cheek in contempt. A mob gathers against me.
They are like hungry lions, eager to tear me apart— like young lions hiding in ambush.
Snatch me from the lion’s jaws and from the horns of these wild oxen.
Everyone who sees me mocks me. They sneer and shake their heads, saying,
How long, O Lord, will you look on and do nothing? Rescue me from their fierce attacks. Protect my life from these lions!
They shout, “Aha! Aha! With our own eyes we saw him do it!”
If you don’t, they will maul me like a lion, tearing me to pieces with no one to rescue me.
All your enemies mock you. They scoff and snarl and say, “We have destroyed her at last! We have long waited for this day, and it is finally here!”
