God observed all this corruption in the world, for everyone on earth was corrupt.

Who can bring purity out of an impure person? No one!

How much less pure is a corrupt and sinful person with a thirst for wickedness!

I have wandered away like a lost sheep; come and find me, for I have not forgotten your commands.

Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good!

Don’t put your servant on trial, for no one is innocent before you.

My wounds fester and stink because of my foolish sins.

These wicked people are born sinners; even from birth they have lied and gone their own way.

Pharaoh and all his officials and all the people of Egypt woke up during the night, and loud wailing was heard throughout the land of Egypt. There was not a single house where someone had not died.

And the Lord did as Moses asked and caused the swarms of flies to disappear from Pharaoh, his officials, and his people. Not a single fly remained.

Not a single person on earth is always good and never sins.

But I did find this: God created people to be virtuous, but they have each turned to follow their own downward path.”

All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.

We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind.

“For my people have done two evil things: They have abandoned me— the fountain of living water. And they have dug for themselves cracked cisterns that can hold no water at all!

“Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols.

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

I am saying this to shame you. Isn’t there anyone in all the church who is wise enough to decide these issues?

Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God.

All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.
