O Lord, shouldn’t I hate those who hate you? Shouldn’t I despise those who oppose you?

Jehu son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him. “Why should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord?” he asked the king. “Because of what you have done, the Lord is very angry with you.

Rivers of tears gush from my eyes because people disobey your instructions.

Seeing these traitors makes me sick at heart, because they care nothing for your word.

Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts.

I hate the gatherings of those who do evil, and I refuse to join in with the wicked.

I hate those who worship worthless idols. I trust in the Lord.

And if you still refuse to listen, I will weep alone because of your pride. My eyes will overflow with tears, because the Lord’s flock will be led away into exile.

He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So the man held out his hand, and it was restored!

But as he came closer to Jerusalem and saw the city ahead, he began to weep.

“I know all the things you do. I have seen your hard work and your patient endurance. I know you don’t tolerate evil people. You have examined the claims of those who say they are apostles but are not. You have discovered they are liars.

But this is in your favor: You hate the evil deeds of the Nicolaitans, just as I do.
