My life constantly hangs in the balance, but I will not stop obeying your instructions.

I will delight in your decrees and not forget your word.

I have wandered away like a lost sheep; come and find me, for I have not forgotten your commands.

But I am a worm and not a man. I am scorned and despised by all!

As for me, since I am poor and needy, let the Lord keep me in his thoughts. You are my helper and my savior. O my God, do not delay.

Better to have little, with fear for the Lord, than to have great treasure and inner turmoil.

Better to have little, with godliness, than to be rich and dishonest.

Better to be poor and honest than to be dishonest and a fool.

My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart.

He was despised and rejected— a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care.

Then Jesus turned to his disciples and said, “God blesses you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is yours.

But Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head.”

You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.

Listen to me, dear brothers and sisters. Hasn’t God chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith? Aren’t they the ones who will inherit the Kingdom he promised to those who love him?
