To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction.

Help me understand the meaning of your commandments, and I will meditate on your wonderful deeds.

Let the godly strike me! It will be a kindness! If they correct me, it is soothing medicine. Don’t let me refuse it. But I pray constantly against the wicked and their deeds.

Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.”

For you refuse my discipline and treat my words like trash.

Only a simpleton would not know, and only a fool would not understand this:

The wise are glad to be instructed, but babbling fools fall flat on their faces.

If the righteous are rewarded here on earth, what will happen to wicked sinners?

The Lord approves of those who are good, but he condemns those who plan wickedness.

Whoever abandons the right path will be severely disciplined; whoever hates correction will die.

Unfriendly people care only about themselves; they lash out at common sense.

I am too stupid to be human, and I lack common sense.

“I love all who love me. Those who search will surely find me.

“And so, my children, listen to me, for all who follow my ways are joyful.

But those who miss me injure themselves. All who hate me love death.”

Even an ox knows its owner, and a donkey recognizes its master’s care— but Israel doesn’t know its master. My people don’t recognize my care for them.”

He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them.
