On the fourteenth day of the second month, one month later than usual, the people slaughtered the Passover lamb. This shamed the priests and Levites, so they purified themselves and brought burnt offerings to the Temple of the Lord.

The king, his officials, and all the community of Jerusalem decided to celebrate Passover a month later than usual.

Then Josiah announced that the Passover of the Lord would be celebrated in Jerusalem, and so the Passover lamb was slaughtered on the fourteenth day of the first month.

While the Israelites were still in the land of Egypt, the Lord gave the following instructions to Moses and Aaron:

“The Lord’s Passover begins at sundown on the fourteenth day of the first month.

“Tell the Israelites to celebrate the Passover at the prescribed time,

So Moses told the people to celebrate the Passover

If that had been necessary, Christ would have had to die again and again, ever since the world began. But now, once for all time, he has appeared at the end of the age to remove sin by his own death as a sacrifice.
