Finally, Abraham said, “Lord, please don’t be angry with me if I speak one more time. Suppose only ten are found there?” And the Lord replied, “Then I will not destroy it for the sake of the ten.”

Once again the anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and he caused David to harm them by taking a census. “Go and count the people of Israel and Judah,” the Lord told him.

“If the high priest sins, bringing guilt upon the entire community, he must give a sin offering for the sin he has committed. He must present to the Lord a young bull with no defects.

This message concerning the fate of Israel came from the Lord: “This message is from the Lord, who stretched out the heavens, laid the foundations of the earth, and formed the human spirit.

Then Moses and Aaron fell face down on the ground before the whole community of Israel.

When Moses heard what they were saying, he fell face down on the ground.

“Get away from all these people so that I can instantly destroy them!” But Moses and Aaron fell face down on the ground.

“O Lord, you are the God who gives breath to all creatures. Please appoint a new man as leader for the community.

Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone.

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

Since we respected our earthly fathers who disciplined us, shouldn’t we submit even more to the discipline of the Father of our spirits, and live forever?

And yet today you are turning away from following the Lord. If you rebel against the Lord today, he will be angry with all of us tomorrow.
