The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.

They cried out to God during the battle, and he answered their prayer because they trusted in him. So the Hagrites and all their allies were defeated.

So Judah defeated Israel on that occasion because they trusted in the Lord, the God of their ancestors.

Hezekiah has said, ‘The Lord our God will rescue us from the king of Assyria.’ Surely Hezekiah is misleading you, sentencing you to death by famine and thirst!

And the Lord sent an angel who destroyed the Assyrian army with all its commanders and officers. So Sennacherib was forced to return home in disgrace to his own land. And when he entered the temple of his god, some of his own sons killed him there with a sword.

He may have a great army, but they are merely men. We have the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles for us!” Hezekiah’s words greatly encouraged the people.

With praise and thanks, they sang this song to the Lord: “He is so good! His faithful love for Israel endures forever!” Then all the people gave a great shout, praising the Lord because the foundation of the Lord’s Temple had been laid.

For the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.

For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.

In times of trouble, may the Lord answer your cry. May the name of the God of Jacob keep you safe from all harm.

The Lord is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray.

For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock.

The Lord rescues the godly; he is their fortress in times of trouble.

The Lord helps them, rescuing them from the wicked. He saves them, and they find shelter in him.

So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.

Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.”

But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.

Be my rock of safety where I can always hide. Give the order to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.

I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble, and you will answer me.

Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.

When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.

The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.

But you are a tower of refuge to the poor, O Lord, a tower of refuge to the needy in distress. You are a refuge from the storm and a shelter from the heat. For the oppressive acts of ruthless people are like a storm beating against a wall,

Each one will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a parched land.

Who among you fears the Lord and obeys his servant? If you are walking in darkness, without a ray of light, trust in the Lord and rely on your God.

Lord, you are my strength and fortress, my refuge in the day of trouble! Nations from around the world will come to you and say, “Our ancestors left us a foolish heritage, for they worshiped worthless idols.

Lord, don’t terrorize me! You alone are my hope in the day of disaster.

“This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: The good figs represent the exiles I sent from Judah to the land of the Babylonians.

the sounds of joy and laughter. The joyful voices of bridegrooms and brides will be heard again, along with the joyous songs of people bringing thanksgiving offerings to the Lord. They will sing, ‘Give thanks to the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, for the Lord is good. His faithful love endures forever!’ For I will restore the prosperity of this land to what it was in the past, says the Lord.

The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.

Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent his angel to rescue his servants who trusted in him. They defied the king’s command and were willing to die rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.

The king was overjoyed and ordered that Daniel be lifted from the den. Not a scratch was found on him, for he had trusted in his God.

The Lord’s voice will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth will shake. But the Lord will be a refuge for his people, a strong fortress for the people of Israel.

Those who are left will be the lowly and humble, for it is they who trust in the name of the Lord.

He trusted God, so let God rescue him now if he wants him! For he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”

But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

“I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me,

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

Notice how God is both kind and severe. He is severe toward those who disobeyed, but kind to you if you continue to trust in his kindness. But if you stop trusting, you also will be cut off.

So now that you know God (or should I say, now that God knows you), why do you want to go back again and become slaves once more to the weak and useless spiritual principles of this world?

But God’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and “All who belong to the Lord must turn away from evil.”
