No one could answer him. And after that, no one dared to ask him any more questions.
So they finally replied, “We don’t know.” And Jesus responded, “Then I won’t tell you by what authority I do these things.
Since David called the Messiah ‘my Lord,’ how can the Messiah be his son?”
Realizing how much the man understood, Jesus said to him, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.” And after that, no one dared to ask him any more questions.
This shamed his enemies, but all the people rejoiced at the wonderful things he did.
When they refused to answer, Jesus touched the sick man and healed him and sent him away.
Again they could not answer.
And then no one dared to ask him any more questions.
But since they could see the man who had been healed standing right there among them, there was nothing the council could say.
‘I am the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.’ Moses shook with terror and did not dare to look.
