“What sorrow awaits Ariel, the City of David. Year after year you celebrate your feasts.

And the crowds replied, “It’s Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

But if we say it was merely human, we’ll be mobbed because the people believe John was a prophet.”

When the leading priests and Pharisees heard this parable, they realized he was telling the story against them—they were the wicked farmers.

Jesus also told them other parables. He said,

When the leading priests and teachers of religious law heard what Jesus had done, they began planning how to kill him. But they were afraid of him because the people were so amazed at his teaching.

Great fear swept the crowd, and they praised God, saying, “A mighty prophet has risen among us,” and “God has visited his people today.”

When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know what kind of woman is touching him. She’s a sinner!”

Then the leaders tried to arrest him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his time had not yet come.

The world can’t hate you, but it does hate me because I accuse it of doing evil.

“People of Israel, listen! God publicly endorsed Jesus the Nazarene by doing powerful miracles, wonders, and signs through him, as you well know.
