But then he fell in love with her, and he tried to win her affection with tender words.

How I weep for you, my brother Jonathan! Oh, how much I loved you! And your love for me was deep, deeper than the love of women!

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good.

And don’t you realize that if a man joins himself to a prostitute, he becomes one body with her? For the Scriptures say, “The two are united into one.”

But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband.

The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife.

As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.”

You must fear the Lord your God and worship him and cling to him. Your oaths must be in his name alone.

“Be careful to obey all these commands I am giving you. Show love to the Lord your God by walking in his ways and holding tightly to him.

But all of you who were faithful to the Lord your God are still alive today—every one of you.

After David had finished talking with Saul, he met Jonathan, the king’s son. There was an immediate bond between them, for Jonathan loved David.

David also married Ahinoam from Jezreel, making both of them his wives.
