When they returned to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd surrounding them, and some teachers of religious law were arguing with them.
They demanded, “By what authority are you doing all these things? Who gave you the right to do them?”
“Teacher,” they said, “we know how honest you are. You are impartial and don’t play favorites. You teach the way of God truthfully. Now tell us—is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?
But some of the teachers of religious law who were sitting there thought to themselves,
But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they chose to abuse him, just as the Scriptures predicted.”
Then Paul went to the synagogue and preached boldly for the next three months, arguing persuasively about the Kingdom of God.
Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.
