He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So the man held out his hand, and it was restored!

So the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart.

The king cried out to the man of God, “Please ask the Lord your God to restore my hand again!” So the man of God prayed to the Lord, and the king’s hand was restored and he could move it again.

I became very upset and threw all of Tobiah’s belongings out of the room.

For forty years I was angry with them, and I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’

Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So the man held out his hand, and it was restored, just like the other one!

Then he turned to his critics and asked, “Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” But they wouldn’t answer him.

But the Lord replied, “You hypocrites! Each of you works on the Sabbath day! Don’t you untie your ox or your donkey from its stall on the Sabbath and lead it out for water?

He looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy.

He looked around at them one by one and then said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So the man held out his hand, and it was restored!

He told him, “Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam” (Siloam means “sent”). So the man went and washed and came back seeing!

I want you to understand this mystery, dear brothers and sisters, so that you will not feel proud about yourselves. Some of the people of Israel have hard hearts, but this will last only until the full number of Gentiles comes to Christ.

But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ.

Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him.

And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry,

And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.

So I was angry with them, and I said, ‘Their hearts always turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’

And who made God angry for forty years? Wasn’t it the people who sinned, whose corpses lay in the wilderness?

In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him.

And they cried to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the one who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb.

Then the Israelites put aside their foreign gods and served the Lord. And he was grieved by their misery.

Jonathan left the table in fierce anger and refused to eat on that second day of the festival, for he was crushed by his father’s shameful behavior toward David.
