Joseph of Arimathea took a risk and went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. (Joseph was an honored member of the high council, and he was waiting for the Kingdom of God to come.)

But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.

“So those who are last now will be first then, and those who are first will be last.”

As evening approached, Joseph, a rich man from Arimathea who had become a follower of Jesus,

Meanwhile, Peter followed him at a distance and went right into the high priest’s courtyard. There he sat with the guards, warming himself by the fire.

Pilate couldn’t believe that Jesus was already dead, so he called for the Roman officer and asked if he had died yet.

At that time there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon. He was righteous and devout and was eagerly waiting for the Messiah to come and rescue Israel. The Holy Spirit was upon him

She came along just as Simeon was talking with Mary and Joseph, and she began praising God. She talked about the child to everyone who had been waiting expectantly for God to rescue Jerusalem.

Now there was a good and righteous man named Joseph. He was a member of the Jewish high council,

but he had not agreed with the decision and actions of the other religious leaders. He was from the town of Arimathea in Judea, and he was waiting for the Kingdom of God to come.

Afterward Joseph of Arimathea, who had been a secret disciple of Jesus (because he feared the Jewish leaders), asked Pilate for permission to take down Jesus’ body. When Pilate gave permission, Joseph came and took the body away.

Then the Jews stirred up the influential religious women and the leaders of the city, and they incited a mob against Paul and Barnabas and ran them out of town.

As a result, many Jews believed, as did many of the prominent Greek women and men.

And because of my imprisonment, most of the believers here have gained confidence and boldly speak God’s message without fear.
