News about him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to him all who were sick. And whatever their sickness or disease, or if they were demon possessed or epileptic or paralyzed—he healed them all.

Saturday evening, when the Sabbath ended, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome went out and purchased burial spices so they could anoint Jesus’ body.

After Jesus rose from the dead early on Sunday morning, the first person who saw him was Mary Magdalene, the woman from whom he had cast out seven demons.

A large crowd trailed behind, including many grief-stricken women.

But Jesus’ friends, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance watching.

As his body was taken away, the women from Galilee followed and saw the tomb where his body was placed.

Jesus demanded, “What is your name?” “Legion,” he replied, for he was filled with many demons.

Standing near the cross were Jesus’ mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary (the wife of Clopas), and Mary Magdalene.

They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus.
