Luke 22:37

New Living Translation

For the time has come for this prophecy about me to be fulfilled: ‘He was counted among the rebels.’ Yes, everything written about me by the prophets will come true.”

I will give him the honors of a victorious soldier, because he exposed himself to death. He was counted among the rebels. He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels.

Two revolutionaries were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left.

Taking the twelve disciples aside, Jesus said, “Listen, we’re going up to Jerusalem, where all the predictions of the prophets concerning the Son of Man will come true.

For it has been determined that the Son of Man must die. But what sorrow awaits the one who betrays him.”

“But now,” he said, “take your money and a traveler’s bag. And if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one!

Then Jesus spoke to the leading priests, the captains of the Temple guard, and the elders who had come for him. “Am I some dangerous revolutionary,” he asked, “that you come with swords and clubs to arrest me?

Two others, both criminals, were led out to be executed with him.

Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.

And you know that the Scriptures cannot be altered. So if those people who received God’s message were called ‘gods,’

I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.

For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”
