Joshua 22:22

New Living Translation

“The Lord, the Mighty One, is God! The Lord, the Mighty One, is God! He knows the truth, and may Israel know it, too! We have not built the altar in treacherous rebellion against the Lord. If we have done so, do not spare our lives this day.

then hear from heaven where you live, and forgive. Give your people what their actions deserve, for you alone know each human heart.

Although you know I am not guilty, no one can rescue me from your hands.

“But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.

then let my shoulder be wrenched out of place! Let my arm be torn from its socket!

Give thanks to the God of gods. His faithful love endures forever.

He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun.

I have told all your people about your justice. I have not been afraid to speak out, as you, O Lord, well know.

God would surely have known it, for he knows the secrets of every heart.

I know now that the Lord is greater than all other gods, because he rescued his people from the oppression of the proud Egyptians.”

But as for me, Lord, you know my heart. You see me and test my thoughts. Drag these people away like sheep to be butchered! Set them aside to be slaughtered!

But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.”

“The king will do as he pleases, exalting himself and claiming to be greater than every god, even blaspheming the God of gods. He will succeed, but only until the time of wrath is completed. For what has been determined will surely take place.

The king said to Daniel, “Truly, your God is the greatest of gods, the Lord over kings, a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this secret.”

I will be patient as the Lord punishes me, for I have sinned against him. But after that, he will take up my case and give me justice for all I have suffered from my enemies. The Lord will bring me into the light, and I will see his righteousness.

Then you will again see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.”

A third time he asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep.

Then they all prayed, “O Lord, you know every heart. Show us which of these men you have chosen

If I have done something worthy of death, I don’t refuse to die. But if I am innocent, no one has a right to turn me over to these men to kill me. I appeal to Caesar!”

Why? Because I don’t love you? God knows that I do.

God, the Father of our Lord Jesus, who is worthy of eternal praise, knows I am not lying.

Because we understand our fearful responsibility to the Lord, we work hard to persuade others. God knows we are sincere, and I hope you know this, too.

“For the Lord your God is the God of gods and Lord of lords. He is the great God, the mighty and awesome God, who shows no partiality and cannot be bribed.

He alone can never die, and he lives in light so brilliant that no human can approach him. No human eye has ever seen him, nor ever will. All honor and power to him forever! Amen.

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.

Then the people of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh answered the heads of the clans of Israel:

On his robe at his thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all lords.

I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am the one who searches out the thoughts and intentions of every person. And I will give to each of you whatever you deserve.

Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.”

“Stop acting so proud and haughty! Don’t speak with such arrogance! For the Lord is a God who knows what you have done; he will judge your actions.
