Enemy kings and their armies flee, while the women of Israel divide the plunder.

Even those who lived among the sheepfolds found treasures— doves with wings of silver and feathers of gold.

“Even if they dig down to the place of the dead, I will reach down and pull them up. Even if they climb up into the heavens, I will bring them down.

Like snakes crawling from their holes, they will come out to meet the Lord our God. They will fear him greatly, trembling in terror at his presence.

The men of Israel saw what a tight spot they were in; and because they were hard pressed by the enemy, they tried to hide in caves, thickets, rocks, holes, and cisterns.

At the place where the road passes some sheepfolds, Saul went into a cave to relieve himself. But as it happened, David and his men were hiding farther back in that very cave!

David came out and shouted after him, “My lord the king!” And when Saul looked around, David bowed low before him.
