I trust in the Lord for protection. So why do you say to me, “Fly like a bird to the mountains for safety!

Oh, that I had wings like a dove; then I would fly away and rest!

The women of Moab are left like homeless birds at the shallow crossings of the Arnon River.

It was because the Lord could no longer bear all the disgusting things you were doing that he made your land an object of cursing—a desolate ruin without inhabitants—as it is today.

Pack up! Get ready to leave for exile, you citizens of Egypt! The city of Memphis will be destroyed, without a single inhabitant.

“You people of Moab, flee from your towns and live in the caves. Hide like doves that nest in the clefts of the rocks.

Now, as surely as I live,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, “Moab and Ammon will be destroyed— destroyed as completely as Sodom and Gomorrah. Their land will become a place of stinging nettles, salt pits, and eternal desolation. The remnant of my people will plunder them and take their land.”

But she was given two wings like those of a great eagle so she could fly to the place prepared for her in the wilderness. There she would be cared for and protected from the dragon for a time, times, and half a time.
