When evil people come to devour me, when my enemies and foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.

The Lord helps them, rescuing them from the wicked. He saves them, and they find shelter in him.

You who love the Lord, hate evil! He protects the lives of his godly people and rescues them from the power of the wicked.

The scoffer will be gone, the arrogant will disappear, and those who plot evil will be killed.

“But suddenly, your ruthless enemies will be crushed like the finest of dust. Your many attackers will be driven away like chaff before the wind. Suddenly, in an instant,

I will feed your enemies with their own flesh. They will be drunk with rivers of their own blood. All the world will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Israel.”

But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken!

Powerful kings and mighty nations will satisfy your every need, as though you were a child nursing at the breast of a queen. You will know at last that I, the Lord, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Israel.

The Lord gave me another message. He said,

Sing to the Lord! Praise the Lord! For though I was poor and needy, he rescued me from my oppressors.

Nevertheless, Ahikam son of Shaphan stood up for Jeremiah and persuaded the court not to turn him over to the mob to be killed.

For the Lord has redeemed Israel from those too strong for them.

And Jeremiah remained a prisoner in the courtyard of the guard until the day Jerusalem was captured.

King Nebuchadnezzar had told Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, to find Jeremiah.

“See that he isn’t hurt,” he said. “Look after him well, and give him anything he wants.”

But the one who redeems them is strong. His name is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. He will defend them and give them rest again in Israel. But for the people of Babylon there will be no rest!

If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty.

“Look!” Nebuchadnezzar shouted. “I see four men, unbound, walking around in the fire unharmed! And the fourth looks like a god!”

And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us.
