What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.”
You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.
Who can command things to happen without the Lord’s permission?
As he left, however, he said, “I will come back later, God willing.” Then he set sail from Ephesus.
One of the things I always pray for is the opportunity, God willing, to come at last to see you.
Then, by the will of God, I will be able to come to you with a joyful heart, and we will be an encouragement to each other.
This time I don’t want to make just a short visit and then go right on. I want to come and stay awhile, if the Lord will let me.
But I will come—and soon—if the Lord lets me, and then I’ll find out whether these arrogant people just give pretentious speeches or whether they really have God’s power.
And so, God willing, we will move forward to further understanding.
Otherwise you are boasting about your own pretentious plans, and all such boasting is evil.
