Isaiah 6:1

New Living Translation

It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the Temple.

Then Micaiah continued, “Listen to what the Lord says! I saw the Lord sitting on his throne with all the armies of heaven around him, on his right and on his left.

When Uzziah died, he was buried with his ancestors in the City of David. And his son Jotham became the next king.

Then Micaiah continued, “Listen to what the Lord says! I saw the Lord sitting on his throne with all the armies of heaven around him, on his right and on his left.

I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes.

Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. May your glory shine over all the earth.

Who can be compared with the Lord our God, who is enthroned on high?

“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”

Then Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and the seventy elders of Israel climbed up the mountain.

These are the visions that Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. He saw these visions during the years when Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah were kings of Judah.

In that wonderful day you will sing: “Thank the Lord! Praise his name! Tell the nations what he has done. Let them know how mighty he is!

The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this: “I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.

This is what the Lord says: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Could you build me a temple as good as that? Could you build me such a resting place?

On July 31 of my thirtieth year, while I was with the Judean exiles beside the Kebar River in Babylon, the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God.

In my vision I saw what appeared to be a throne of blue lapis lazuli above the crystal surface over the heads of the cherubim.

Then the glory of the Lord rose up from above the cherubim and went over to the entrance of the Temple. The Temple was filled with this cloud of glory, and the courtyard glowed brightly with the glory of the Lord.

How can someone like me, your servant, talk to you, my lord? My strength is gone, and I can hardly breathe.”

I watched as thrones were put in place and the Ancient One sat down to judge. His clothing was as white as snow, his hair like purest wool. He sat on a fiery throne with wheels of blazing fire,

I speak to him face to face, clearly, and not in riddles! He sees the Lord as he is. So why were you not afraid to criticize my servant Moses?”

“But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne.

No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.

Isaiah was referring to Jesus when he said this, because he saw the future and spoke of the Messiah’s glory.

He alone can never die, and he lives in light so brilliant that no human can approach him. No human eye has ever seen him, nor ever will. All honor and power to him forever! Amen.

The Temple was filled with smoke from God’s glory and power. No one could enter the Temple until the seven angels had completed pouring out the seven plagues.

And I saw a great white throne and the one sitting on it. The earth and sky fled from his presence, but they found no place to hide.

Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne.

the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever). And they lay their crowns before the throne and say,

And instantly I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it.

The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones—like jasper and carnelian. And the glow of an emerald circled his throne like a rainbow.

Whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever),

Then I saw a scroll in the right hand of the one who was sitting on the throne. There was writing on the inside and the outside of the scroll, and it was sealed with seven seals.

He stepped forward and took the scroll from the right hand of the one sitting on the throne.

And they cried to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the one who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb.
