Genesis 48:9

New Living Translation

“Yes,” Joseph told him, “these are the sons God has given me here in Egypt.” And Jacob said, “Bring them closer to me, so I can bless them.”

and in due time she gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, for she said, “I asked the Lord for him.”

I asked the Lord to give me this boy, and he has granted my request.
