After the birth of Terah, Nahor lived another 119 years and had other sons and daughters.

The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.

Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your descendants.” And Abram built an altar there and dedicated it to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

Go instead to my father’s house, to my relatives, and find a wife there for my son.’

The servant asked, “But what if I can’t find a young woman who is willing to travel so far from home? Should I then take Isaac there to live among your relatives in the land you came from?”

So Isaac called for Jacob, blessed him, and said, “You must not marry any of these Canaanite women.

Instead, go at once to Paddan-aram, to the house of your grandfather Bethuel, and marry one of your uncle Laban’s daughters.

Jehoiada chose two wives for Joash, and he had sons and daughters.

If they had longed for the country they came from, they could have gone back.

His father and mother objected. “Isn’t there even one woman in our tribe or among all the Israelites you could marry?” they asked. “Why must you go to the pagan Philistines to find a wife?” But Samson told his father, “Get her for me! She looks good to me.”
