But the Lord sent terrible plagues upon Pharaoh and his household because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.

So Pharaoh summoned Abram and accused him sharply. “What have you done to me?” he demanded. “Why didn’t you tell me she was your wife?

Now return the woman to her husband, and he will pray for you, for he is a prophet. Then you will live. But if you don’t return her to him, you can be sure that you and all your people will die.”

As he slept, he dreamed of a stairway that reached from the earth up to heaven. And he saw the angels of God going up and down the stairway.

But the previous night God had appeared to Laban the Aramean in a dream and told him, “I’m warning you—leave Jacob alone!”

One night Joseph had a dream, and when he told his brothers about it, they hated him more than ever.

Soon Joseph had another dream, and again he told his brothers about it. “Listen, I have had another dream,” he said. “The sun, moon, and eleven stars bowed low before me!”

While they were in prison, Pharaoh’s cup-bearer and baker each had a dream one night, and each dream had its own meaning.

And they replied, “We both had dreams last night, but no one can tell us what they mean.” “Interpreting dreams is God’s business,” Joseph replied. “Go ahead and tell me your dreams.”

During the night God spoke to him in a vision. “Jacob! Jacob!” he called. “Here I am,” Jacob replied.
