And Melchizedek, the king of Salem and a priest of God Most High, brought Abram some bread and wine.

What can we bring to the Lord? Should we bring him burnt offerings? Should we bow before God Most High with offerings of yearling calves?

You must present one-tenth of the tithe received from the Israelites as a sacred offering to the Lord. This is the Lord’s sacred portion, and you must present it to Aaron the priest.

the message of one who hears the words of God, who has knowledge from the Most High, who sees a vision from the Almighty, who bows down with eyes wide open:

She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, and they have come to tell you how to be saved.”

However, the Most High doesn’t live in temples made by human hands. As the prophet says,

Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.

And God designated him to be a High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.

And in another passage God said to him, “You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.”

Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.

This Melchizedek was king of the city of Salem and also a priest of God Most High. When Abraham was returning home after winning a great battle against the kings, Melchizedek met him and blessed him.

“The Lord bless you, my daughter!” Boaz exclaimed. “You are showing even more family loyalty now than you did before, for you have not gone after a younger man, whether rich or poor.
