God answered, “I will be with you. And this is your sign that I am the one who has sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God at this very mountain.”

Some time later, the Lord spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, “Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.”

But Abram replied, “O Sovereign Lord, how can I be sure that I will actually possess it?”

Live here as a foreigner in this land, and I will be with you and bless you. I hereby confirm that I will give all these lands to you and your descendants, just as I solemnly promised Abraham, your father.

Then the Lord said to Jacob, “Return to the land of your father and grandfather and to your relatives there, and I will be with you.”

Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Here is the proof that what I say is true: “This year you will eat only what grows up by itself, and next year you will eat what springs up from that. But in the third year you will plant crops and harvest them; you will tend vineyards and eat their fruit.

Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, now came to visit Moses in the wilderness. He brought Moses’ wife and two sons with him, and they arrived while Moses and the people were camped near the mountain of God.

One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God.

But Moses protested, “If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what should I tell them?”

The Lord replied, “I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you.”

Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”

Talk to him, and put the words in his mouth. I will be with both of you as you speak, and I will instruct you both in what to do.

We must take a three-day trip into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to the Lord our God, just as he has commanded us.”

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.

All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).

And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the Lord, have spoken!”

And Moses said, “This is how you will know that the Lord has sent me to do all these things that I have done—for I have not done them on my own.

No misfortune is in his plan for Jacob; no trouble is in store for Israel. For the Lord their God is with them; he has been proclaimed their king.

Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.

The power of the Lord was with them, and a large number of these Gentiles believed and turned to the Lord.

‘But I will punish the nation that enslaves them,’ God said, ‘and in the end they will come out and worship me here in this place.’

What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?

Then the Lord commissioned Joshua son of Nun with these words: “Be strong and courageous, for you must bring the people of Israel into the land I swore to give them. I will be with you.”

Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”

No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you.

The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, “Mighty hero, the Lord is with you!”

The Lord said to him, “I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man.”

Gideon replied, “If you are truly going to help me, show me a sign to prove that it is really the Lord speaking to me.

Then the angel of the Lord touched the meat and bread with the tip of the staff in his hand, and fire flamed up from the rock and consumed all he had brought. And the angel of the Lord disappeared.

Listen to what the Midianites are saying, and you will be greatly encouraged. Then you will be eager to attack.” So Gideon took Purah and went down to the edge of the enemy camp.

But if they say, ‘Come on up and fight,’ then we will go up. That will be the Lord’s sign that he will help us defeat them.”
