If you refuse, watch out! For tomorrow I will bring a swarm of locusts on your country.

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, “This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: How long will you refuse to submit to me? Let my people go, so they can worship me.

They will cover the land so that you won’t be able to see the ground. They will devour what little is left of your crops after the hailstorm, including all the trees growing in the fields.

I commanded you, “Let my son go, so he can worship me.” But since you have refused, I will now kill your firstborn son!’”

After this presentation to Israel’s leaders, Moses and Aaron went and spoke to Pharaoh. They told him, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Let my people go so they may hold a festival in my honor in the wilderness.”

“Do it tomorrow,” Pharaoh said. “All right,” Moses replied, “it will be as you have said. Then you will know that there is no one like the Lord our God.

I will make a clear distinction between my people and your people. This miraculous sign will happen tomorrow.’”

So tomorrow at this time I will send a hailstorm more devastating than any in all the history of Egypt.

The Lord has already set the time for the plague to begin. He has declared that he will strike the land tomorrow.’”

Locusts—they have no king, but they march in formation.

The Lord says, “I will give you back what you lost to the swarming locusts, the hopping locusts, the stripping locusts, and the cutting locusts. It was I who sent this great destroying army against you.

“You will plant much but harvest little, for locusts will eat your crops.

Then locusts came from the smoke and descended on the earth, and they were given power to sting like scorpions.
