“And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the Lord your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul.

Solomon loved the Lord and followed all the decrees of his father, David, except that Solomon, too, offered sacrifices and burned incense at the local places of worship.

But Jehu did not obey the Law of the Lord, the God of Israel, with all his heart. He refused to turn from the sins that Jeroboam had led Israel to commit.

He did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight, just as his ancestor David had done.

He remained faithful to the Lord in everything, and he carefully obeyed all the commands the Lord had given Moses.

“And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the Lord sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.

Then they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their ancestors, with all their heart and soul.

“If they listen and obey God, they will be blessed with prosperity throughout their lives. All their years will be pleasant.

Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts.

How joyful are those who fear the Lord— all who follow his ways!

The Lord protects all those who love him, but he destroys the wicked.

I love you, Lord; you are my strength.

Fear the Lord, you his godly people, for those who fear him will have all they need.

Oh, that my people would listen to me! Oh, that Israel would follow me, walking in my paths!

How quickly I would then subdue their enemies! How soon my hands would be upon their foes!

“You must serve only the Lord your God. If you do, I will bless you with food and water, and I will protect you from illness.

That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.

so they will obey my decrees and regulations. Then they will truly be my people, and I will be their God.

No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

“Then I will purify the speech of all people, so that everyone can worship the Lord together.

God knows how often I pray for you. Day and night I bring you and your needs in prayer to God, whom I serve with all my heart by spreading the Good News about his Son.

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Then the Lord said to me, ‘Get up and resume the journey, and lead the people to the land I swore to give to their ancestors, so they may take possession of it.’

And you must always obey the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.

“You must love the Lord your God and always obey his requirements, decrees, regulations, and commands.

“If you carefully obey the commands I am giving you today, and if you love the Lord your God and serve him with all your heart and soul,

“Today the Lord your God has commanded you to obey all these decrees and regulations. So be careful to obey them wholeheartedly.

So you must obey the Lord your God by keeping all these commands and decrees that I am giving you today.”

For I command you this day to love the Lord your God and to keep his commands, decrees, and regulations by walking in his ways. If you do this, you will live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you and the land you are about to enter and occupy.

You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life. And if you love and obey the Lord, you will live long in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”

But from there you will search again for the Lord your God. And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him.

Oh, that they would always have hearts like this, that they might fear me and obey all my commands! If they did, they and their descendants would prosper forever.

Stay on the path that the Lord your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives in the land you are about to enter and occupy.

You must fear the Lord your God and serve him. When you take an oath, you must use only his name.

and you and your children and grandchildren must fear the Lord your God as long as you live. If you obey all his decrees and commands, you will enjoy a long life.

And the Lord our God commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives, as he has done to this day.

And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.

The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith.

Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.

But be very careful to obey all the commands and the instructions that Moses gave to you. Love the Lord your God, walk in all his ways, obey his commands, hold firmly to him, and serve him with all your heart and all your soul.”

“So fear the Lord and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord alone.

Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.

And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.

“Don’t be afraid,” Samuel reassured them. “You have certainly done wrong, but make sure now that you worship the Lord with all your heart, and don’t turn your back on him.
