But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God.

When Solomon finished making these prayers and petitions to the Lord, he stood up in front of the altar of the Lord, where he had been kneeling with his hands raised toward heaven.

Now Solomon had made a bronze platform 7-1/2 feet long, 7-1/2 feet wide, and 4-1/2 feet high and had placed it at the center of the Temple’s outer courtyard. He stood on the platform, and then he knelt in front of the entire community of Israel and lifted his hands toward heaven.

If they turn to you with their whole heart and soul in the land of their captivity and pray toward the land you gave to their ancestors—toward this city you have chosen, and toward this Temple I have built to honor your name—

At the time of the sacrifice, I stood up from where I had sat in mourning with my clothes torn. I fell to my knees and lifted my hands to the Lord my God.

But I replied, “Should someone in my position run from danger? Should someone in my position enter the Temple to save his life? No, I won’t do it!”

I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises.

Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house; I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe.

Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the Lord hears my voice.

Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am calling on you constantly.

Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker,

Then they told the king, “That man Daniel, one of the captives from Judah, is ignoring you and your law. He still prays to his God three times a day.”

I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed: “O Lord, you are a great and awesome God! You always fulfill your covenant and keep your promises of unfailing love to those who love you and obey your commands.

Then I said, ‘O Lord, you have driven me from your presence. Yet I will look once more toward your holy Temple.’

Jesus said to the man with the deformed hand, “Come and stand in front of everyone.”

“If you want to be my disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.

He walked away, about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed,

The next day as Cornelius’s messengers were nearing the town, Peter went up on the flat roof to pray. It was about noon,

These people are not drunk, as some of you are assuming. Nine o’clock in the morning is much too early for that.

But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.

When he had finished speaking, he knelt and prayed with them.

When we returned to the ship at the end of the week, the entire congregation, including women and children, left the city and came down to the shore with us. There we knelt, prayed,

Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon to take part in the three o’clock prayer service.

And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word.

“Go to the Temple and give the people this message of life!”

But Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than any human authority.

He fell to his knees, shouting, “Lord, don’t charge them with this sin!” And with that, he died.

But Peter asked them all to leave the room; then he knelt and prayed. Turning to the body he said, “Get up, Tabitha.” And she opened her eyes! When she saw Peter, she sat up!

When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father,

And because of my imprisonment, most of the believers here have gained confidence and boldly speak God’s message without fear.

For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name.

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life.

“I know that you live in the city where Satan has his throne, yet you have remained loyal to me. You refused to deny me even when Antipas, my faithful witness, was martyred among you there in Satan’s city.
