New Living Translation

Saul picked himself up off the ground, but when he opened his eyes he was blind. So his companions led him by the hand to Damascus.

There he divided his men and attacked during the night. Kedorlaomer’s army fled, but Abram chased them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus.

Then they blinded all the men, young and old, who were at the door of the house, so they gave up trying to get inside.

Then the Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord?

Watch now, for the Lord has laid his hand of punishment upon you, and you will be struck blind. You will not see the sunlight for some time.” Instantly mist and darkness came over the man’s eyes, and he began groping around begging for someone to take his hand and lead him.

“I was blinded by the intense light and had to be led by the hand to Damascus by my companions.

Instantly something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he got up and was baptized.

He remained there blind for three days and did not eat or drink.

When I was in Damascus, the governor under King Aretas kept guards at the city gates to catch me.

Nor did I go up to Jerusalem to consult with those who were apostles before I was. Instead, I went away into Arabia, and later I returned to the city of Damascus.
